Cuba Confirms Talks with U.S. Delegation in Havana

Gate News message, April 20 — Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Del Toro confirmed that Cuban and U.S. officials held talks in Havana recently. The U.S. delegation was led by a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, while Cuba was represented by a Deputy Foreign Minister. Del Toro stated that both sides maintained a cautious and professional approach throughout the discussions.

Del Toro emphasized that neither party set deadlines or made any mandatory demands during the meeting. He highlighted that lifting the economic embargo on Cuba’s energy sector was the top priority for the Cuban delegation, describing the embargo as “global extortion against a sovereign nation.”
