Vitalik 指出，在应用层和以太坊对外接口领域，应勇于彻底重构各种概念，突破舒适区。他以人工智能为例，提出「若 AI 意味着钱包作为浏览器扩展和移动端扩展将在一年内消亡，该如何应对？」这类技术方向的思考。
他进一步表示，以太坊的发展逻辑应从「如何优化现有生态」转变为「基于现有认知，当下最具价值的建设方向是什么」。他建议开发者以「假设当前以太坊链完全无人使用，而你正作为首创者设计或构建应用」的思维进行创新，认为这是以太坊重获强劲增长的途径。
