U.S. Acknowledges Israeli Military Operations in Lebanon During Ceasefire, Opposes Long-Term Buffer Zone

GateNews

Gate News message, April 28 — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on April 27 that the United States is aware of Israeli military strikes in Lebanon during the ceasefire period. When asked whether the U.S. supports Israel establishing a long-term “buffer zone” in Lebanon, Rubio said “no,” adding that the ideal outcome would not require Israeli forces to remain in Lebanon long-term.

Rubio’s comments reflect the U.S. position on the ongoing Israeli-Lebanese military situation and underscore American preference for a resolution that does not involve a prolonged Israeli military presence in the region.
