Iran Announces Free Passage Through Strait of Hormuz for 60 Days Under U.S. Deal

According to Iran's state news agency, on June 18, Iran's Supreme National Security Council announced that vessels seeking passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be exempted from fees for 60 days under the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding. Commercial ships requesting transit must submit applications to Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority; fees will be waived during the 60-day period and covered by the Iranian government. Ships are required to follow designated routes and comply with scheduled passage times due to current security risks in parts of the waterway.
