Google Engineer Charged With Using Confidential Data to Profit $1.2M on Polymarket

According to Bitcoin.com and the U.S. Department of Justice, Google software engineer Michele Spagnuolo was charged on May 31 with commodity fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering for allegedly using confidential Google data to profit over $1.2 million through a Polymarket account named "AlphaRaccoon".

Prosecutors said Spagnuolo accessed internal search ranking data marked "Google Confidential" and used it to trade contracts related to 2025's top search queries and trending figures between October 15 and December 4, 2025. He invested approximately $2.75 million during this period.
