CrowdStrike: Global Financial Institution Hacks Rise 43% on May 14

According to CrowdStrike’s report released on May 14, intrusions against financial institutions rose 43% globally over the past two years. North Korea-linked hackers stole US$2.02 billion in digital assets in 2025, partly leveraging AI-based deception techniques.

The report noted that 423 financial services firms appeared on ransomware leak sites in 2025, up 27% year-over-year. A North Korea-linked group separately stole US$1.46 billion in cryptocurrency through trojanized software distributed via supply chain compromise.
