On November 7th, according to Polymarket's prediction, protesters on January 6th are more likely to be pardoned during Trump's second presidential term than Ross William Ulbricht, the founder of the "Silk Road," but the probability gap is not significant. Polymarket's bettors give an 86% probability of pardon to the January 6th protesters, while the probability for Ulbricht is 78%. Trump has publicly stated that the January 6th protesters are patriots persecuted by the "double standard justice system," which is said to unfairly target his supporters, just as he believes he is facing politically motivated charges. He described the events of January 6th as a "day filled with love," claiming that his supporters were merely responding to a "rigged" election. During his campaign, Trump promised that if re-elected, he would reduce Ulbricht's sentence to time served (which is different from pardon) and pardon the defendants of January 6th, stating that these measures embody his opposition to government overreach and support for individual freedom.
