The U.S. government requests the Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of the executive order to abolish "birthright citizenship."
Jin10 reported on September 27 that on September 26 local time, the U.S. government appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, requesting a review of the constitutionality of President Trump's executive order aimed at terminating birthright citizenship. This is the second time this year that the issue has been submitted to the Supreme Court. The birthright citizenship policy has a history of over 100 years in the United States, guaranteeing that everyone born in the U.S. has citizenship, regardless of their parents' status. Trump signed an executive order to abolish birthright citizenship on his first day in office, January 20 this year, stipulating that newborns whose parents are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents cannot automatically acquire U.S. citizenship.
