The encryption lobbying group calls for the inclusion of software developer protection measures in the crypto market structural legislation.
Gate News bot, on June 5, crypto industry lobby groups DeFi Education Fund, Coin Center, Solana Policy Institute, Digital Chamber of Commerce, Blockchain Association, Cryptocurrency Innovation Council, and Bitcoin Policy Institute issued a joint statement calling for an additional bill to be added to the cryptocurrency market structure bill.
The group urged lawmakers to add the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025 (CLARITY Act), which states that software developers of non-custodial cryptocurrency platforms are not classified as remittance agencies.
The “CLARITY Act” launched at the end of May will redefine the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in the digital asset space, while Congressman Tom Emmer and Ritchie Torres proposed the “Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act” again last month.
The lobbying group stated: “It is crucial to remember that the developers of peer-to-peer, non-custodial software and the infrastructure providers supporting decentralized networks have almost nothing in common with traditional financial institutions and should not be treated as such.”
