ME News message, April 6 (UTC+8). On April 5, Mehdí Tabatabaei, deputy director of the Iranian presidential office responsible for news and communications affairs, made a harsh statement regarding the regional situation and the issue of passage through the Strait of Hormuz. On social media, Tabatabaei launched a fierce attack on U.S. President Trump and his policies, accusing him of resorting to insults out of “desperation and anger,” and saying that his reckless actions have sparked an all-out war within the region. Regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz, Tabatabaei said that the Strait would only be fully reopened after a new legal framework is established and after using past vessel-toll revenue to compensate Iran for all the losses it suffered in prior wars.
