Local time on April 5, U.S. President Trump said in an interview that the United States is currently conducting “in-depth negotiations” with Iran and is expected to reach an agreement before the April 7 final deadline he set.

Two sources said that the talks are being conducted through mediators in Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, and that there is also communication between Trump’s adviser and Iran’s foreign minister. Trump said that special envoy Wittekoff and his son-in-law Kushner are engaged in intensive negotiations with Iran. Trump said that an agreement is very likely to be reached, but that if it cannot be reached, he will destroy everything there.

Previously, Trump had threatened that if he failed to reach an agreement with Iran’s leadership, he would destroy infrastructure that is crucial to Iranian civilians.
