“Lobster” sparks demand for the Mac mini—reporter goes to the scene: “Every store in Shanghai is out of stock!”

Recently, as the AI agent OpenClaw has become all the rage, a Mac mini desktop computer made by Apple—which had previously been relatively “niche” in the consumer electronics market—has been getting snapped up in both online and offline channels. A reporter from The Shanghai Securities News conducted on-site visits to Apple’s official flagship stores and consumer electronics markets in Shanghai and Hangzhou, and found that Mac mini units equipped with M4 chips are in short supply and that secondhand prices have also risen accordingly. Multiple stores reported that people come in every day to inquire about stock, but the out-of-stock situation had already emerged weeks earlier and has continued to this day.
