ME News message, April 5 (UTC+8). Ro Khanna, a member of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Democratic Party, said in an NBC interview that Trump on the Iran issue is “letting down the U.S. military,” adding that his remarks are out of step with the reality on the ground. Khanna pointed out that earlier Trump had posted a message calling on Iran to “open the damn Strait of Hormuz,” or else it would face an escalation strike. While Trump was “swearing and threatening war crimes,” U.S. military personnel were under fire, even though Trump repeatedly claimed that Iran’s military power had been destroyed. Khanna said: “We now have to end this war. We need an immediate ceasefire. Iran, Israel and the United States must stop the bombing, and reach a solution through negotiations.” He also said that he would refuse to support any additional funding to extend the conflict, including funds directly allocated for war operations by the Pentagon.
