Industry insiders say Chinese companies' expansion into ASEAN has entered the "eco-constructing" stage
Ask AI · How Does the China-Enterprise Ecosystem Co-Building Model Drive ASEAN’s Industrial Upgrading?
【ASEAN Dedicated Line】Industry insiders say that Chinese enterprises’ move into ASEAN has entered an “ecosystem co-building” phase
China News Service, Beijing, March 27 (CNS reporter Lü Shaowei) At the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum currently being held in Beijing, many industry insiders believe that China’s overseas expansion into ASEAN has upgraded from early, single trade exchanges to a new stage of deep integration of “technology + capital + scenarios.”
Wang Sheng, Chairman of China Galaxy Securities Co., Ltd., said that currently, China-ASEAN innovation cooperation shows three major features: a shift from exporting single products or services to planning the entire industrial chain; a shift from traditional manufacturing to emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and green technologies; and a shift from going it alone to developing cooperatively within an ecosystem.
“When Chinese technology companies set up operations in ASEAN, what they care most about is whether they can efficiently allocate cross-border capital, meet compliance requirements in different markets, promote localization of the supply chain, and establish a sustainable and replicable development system.” Zheng Jun, Executive President of Dahua Bank’s Hong Kong branch, said that technology companies’ overseas ambitions have already upgraded from “entering the market” to “integrating into the ecosystem.”
Liu Gang, Vice President of GLodon Technology Co., Ltd., told China News Service reporter that in the ASEAN market, GLodon is moving from its previous main focus on “product output” toward a new stage of “value co-creation.” During recent cooperation with relevant government departments in Malaysia and Indonesia, the company actively supported local industry digitalization education, systematically enhancing local construction industry digital capabilities through talent development, joint development of industry standards, and implementation of real projects.
Regarding how to further tap the potential for cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, Bo Shanglang, President of the ASEAN Economic Trade Promotion Association, suggested jointly building joint laboratories, technology transfer centers, and innovation incubators, and exploring the establishment of a policy coordination mechanism that supports the cross-border flow of innovative elements, so that talent, technology, capital, and data can flow more smoothly within the region.
Bo Shanglang believes that efforts should also focus on strengthening connectivity and interoperability of digital infrastructure—advancing the construction of cross-border fiber-optic cables, deploying 5G networks, and building smart cities—while enhancing technical exchanges in areas such as new energy vehicles, renewable energy, and green finance, and jointly cultivating new growth points; financial institutions and technology companies should also develop innovative products suited to small and medium-sized enterprises to help them integrate into the regional industrial chain.
