Google's no-screen Fitbit band leaked: Looks very similar to Whoop, integrated with AI health coach
According to 1M AI News monitoring, Google is developing a screenless fitness band under the Fitbit brand, with plans to launch it this year. Insiders say the device offers basic functionality, while more features require a paid subscription to unlock—similar to the subscription model of screenless fitness band Whoop and smart ring Oura, but Google will charge separately for the hardware, whereas Whoop relies entirely on subscriptions.
On Tuesday, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry teased the device on social media, saying it will “usher in a new relationship with health.” Google confirmed that Curry has been “working with the team to build something special,” with more details to be released “soon.”
The device will feature a gray fabric band with an orange lining, and its design is highly similar to the current-generation screenless Whoop band. It will connect to an AI health coach in a redesigned Fitbit app. This feature began a public preview in October last year and covers scenarios such as menstrual health, mental health, nutrition, and water-intake tracking. With Pixel Watch and the traditional Fitbit product line added, Google’s wearables lineup will be further expanded.
Google’s entry comes as the screenless wearables market heats up. Whoop recently completed a $575 million Series G round at a $10.1 billion valuation, with sports stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James participating as individuals. The company plans to IPO within two years. Smart ring Oura’s valuation also reached $11 billion last year.
