Multiple German cities and municipalities are facing severe disruptions to their public transportation services this Monday as a result of a strike called by Verdi, Germany’s second-largest union. The Root Causes: Extreme Work Pressure in the Transportation Sector

Christine Behle, Verdi’s vice president, explained in official union statements that public transportation employees face unsustainable work pressure. According to her analysis, workers in the sector endure long hours, complex shift systems, and constantly tight time constraints. This situation has led to high turnover rates and difficulties attracting new skilled technicians to the industry. Specific Demands: What Verdi Is Asking for in Collective Bargaining

According to Jin10, the union’s claims include: reduction of weekly working hours, shortening of shift durations, significant extension of rest periods between shifts, and increases in bonus pay for night and weekend work.
