#V God, this new post boils down to one core message:
Ethereum must achieve “even if everyone leaves, it can still survive on its own.”
Not just survive for a year,
not just survive through a bull and bear cycle,
but—live for a hundred years.
V神’s words translated into plain language are:
👉 Ethereum cannot rely on developers to exist
👉 Even if all core developers run away collectively
👉 this chain must operate stably for decades, hundreds of years
It sounds extreme,
but it’s precisely the most fundamental issue in blockchain.
1. What exactly is “true decentralization”?
V神 gave a very vivid example:
Applications on Ethereum should be like a hammer.
When you buy it, it’s yours,
and you can always use it.
Not like some internet services:
Company goes bankrupt → you lose it
Get hacked → you accept it
Start harvesting users → you can’t escape
If an application needs “someone to maintain you constantly,”
then you’re trusting not the code,
but the people.
2. Here’s the problem:
If Ethereum itself can’t do without developers, then everything is just talk.
So V神 first targets Ethereum itself.
He proposed a concept called “Exit Test.”
It doesn’t mean stopping updates now,
but reaching a state as soon as possible 👇
✅ Fully functional, no more pie-in-the-sky promises
✅ Can be “solidified” at any time
✅ After solidification, no major issues will arise
In one sentence:
👉 Even if today we declare “we’re done,” Ethereum remains the strongest public chain.
3. V神 listed 7 “hard bones that must be gnawed through”
This isn’t a roadmap, it’s a century-long project list.
1️⃣ Quantum resistance
Cannot delay any longer.
Ethereum’s cryptography must last 100 years.
2️⃣ Scalability architecture
Rely on ZK-EVM + PeerDAS
The goal isn’t frequent hard forks,
but: future scalability just tuning parameters.
3️⃣ State management
State expiration and historical bloat must be solved,
or in decades, nodes’ hard drives will explode.
4️⃣ Account abstraction
Eliminate hardcoded ECDSA,
make account logic truly upgradeable and customizable.
5️⃣ Gas mechanism
Must be free of DoS vulnerabilities,
whether for regular transactions or ZK proofs.
6️⃣ PoS economic model
Must operate stably for decades,
and make ETH a reliable collateral asset.
7️⃣ Censorship resistance
Block construction must not be monopolized by big institutions,
censorship resistance must be a long-term attribute, not just slogans.
4. What V神 really wants to say is this:
👉 In the coming years, focus all efforts on getting these things right once and for all.
👉 No half-measures, no leaving holes.
👉 Tackle at least one each year.
After these are achieved:
Ethereum will no longer depend on “continuous design iterations.”
Future improvements will mostly be client optimizations.
Even if there are few changes, nothing will go wrong.
Ending
The true weight of this article lies in a subtle implication:
Ethereum needs to transform from a “product under continuous development”
to a “infrastructure that remains valid even if development stops.”
It’s not about no iteration,
but about iteration no longer being a prerequisite for survival.
This is the fundamental difference between a public chain and internet products.
#Ethereum goes hard.
This is the gwei.
Ethereum must be hardcore.
This is gwei.
