People only talk about their wins.
So here are my most brutal losses and what they did to my psychology. I’ve been in debt, I've had a $40k car loan, a $10k tax bill and ~$500 in my account. I had no budget, no structure, no real plan.
In 2020, I actually did things right. I bought BTC and ETH consistently, built a portfolio worth ~$75k then pulled $15k out to buy a $55k car with a $40k loan. That decision is where it all started to grow wrong.
Later in 2022, I lost ~$40k to an NFT scam and tried to “win it back.” I chased random NFT mints, derivative projects and altcoins shilled by people who didn’t care if I survived. I ended that year with about $1,000 to my name and a lot of denial.
Then the true reality hit: debt, loans and taxes I never planned for with no excuses left.
In 2025, I lost hundreds of thousands to a social engineering scam - roughly 30% of my net worth at the time. Years of work disappeared instantly. Now this one broke me. Not because of the money, but because I realised how greedy and careless I’d become. Every DM looked like an opportunity, every shortcut felt justified.
This isn’t a sob story, this is to enlighten you that you can to bounce back from HUGE life changing losses.
I had to sell things I loved, I had to slow down my thoughts and process, I had to step away for a week and rebuild my thinking from the ground up. Everything from risk, position sizing, patience, life structure was reworked: no more hero trades, no more ego, no more hail mary plays... hard work leads to success.
What trading taught me, and life reinforced, is that learning how to lose is more important than learning how to win. Your darkest periods are where clarity is earned and if you can survive them properly, they don’t weaken you they become the foundation of an even better you.
