Trust Wallet Browser Extension Vulnerability Attack Affects $7 Million, Official Release Fix Guide
【Crypto World】Bad news has arrived. Trust Wallet officially confirmed recently that version 2.68 of the browser extension has a security vulnerability, affecting approximately $7 million worth of user funds. The good news is that the official team has promised to ensure full refunds for all affected users. Supporting users is their top priority right now, and the team is working hard to improve the refund process.
If you are currently using version 2.68, you need to act quickly to protect your assets. Here’s a checklist:
First, immediately stop using version 2.68 of the Trust Wallet browser extension on your desktop device. This is the first step to prevent further losses. Then open the Chrome browser and copy the following string into the address bar: chrome://extensions/?id=egjidjbpglichdcondbcbdnbeeppgdph. This is the direct link to the official Trust Wallet extension.
Once inside, you will see the configuration options for Trust Wallet. Check the toggle switches below—if they are still on, turn them off immediately. Next, find the “Developer mode” button in the top right corner and click it. Then, locate the “Update” button in the top left corner and click it; the system will automatically fetch the latest version.
Finally, verify the version number to ensure you have upgraded to v2.69—the latest and most secure version. After completing these steps, your wallet should resume normal operation.
If you find that your funds have indeed been compromised, you can submit a compensation request through official channels. The Trust Wallet team is actively handling this matter, so there’s no need to worry too much—just follow official notifications.
