Where Did "Ton" Come From? 🏛️

The word comes from "tunne" - old English for big wine barrels. Trade got bigger. Measurements diverged.

That "Imperial Tonne" Thing 🧐

Converting isn't entirely clear to everyone: 1 metric tonne is about 0.984 long tons.

UK mostly dropped the imperial ton after 1985. Still pops up in history books though.
