As a post-00s, I can no longer see the future. I've exhausted society's dark dividends.
The post-00s generation often gets stuck at the awkward seam where the old order collapses and the new script is still pending.
If we're talking about which generation of post-00s had it worst, that generation from the last century absolutely ranks at the top.
They didn't just suffer for a period of time—their entire lives were practically pierced through by disasters.
They graduated elementary school and ran straight into World War I. Their fathers and older brothers were conscripted away. Just as things were getting started, they became orphans overnight.
By 1918, around the time they were in high school, they hit the Spanish Flu. About one-third of the global population was infected, causing twenty million deaths.
By the time they miraculously survived to college graduation and entered the job market, they crashed into the Great Depression of 1929—society literally shut down.
Just when things stabilized a bit in middle age, the Führer had something big prepared for them.
The post-00s of 1800 didn't have it much better either.
They were born just as Napoleon was rampaging across Europe, and Napoleon kept fighting for over a decade until this generation reached adulthood before being defeated.
In their twenties, they hit the Industrial Revolution. Brothers went straight into the factories, working 14 hours a day with zero compensation for workplace injuries.
Then in 1848, during their middle age, the Revolutions of 1848 erupted across Europe—fighting everywhere: the Paris uprising, the German uprisings, turmoil in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Italian unification wars.
The post-00s of 1700 weren't quite as dramatic, but only because they practically arrived dead. Healthcare was nearly non-existent. Surviving to age five was like having a blessed body.
Meanwhile, they were born during the War of Spanish Succession, which made their already-low survival rate even worse. Their average lifespan was only 35 years.
This wasn't just living miserably—just being alive was already a win.
Born in 2000, we encountered SARS, flu, earthquakes, floods, financial crises, real estate bubbles, human trafficking, telefraud scams, pandemics, policy reforms, education reforms, legal reforms, work system reforms. The future is hopeless.
There's a saying that goes: A horse won't get fat without grazing at night, and a person won't get rich without windfall gains.
If you graduate in your 20s without money to start a business, you drift along working for a few years and suddenly you're almost 30, about to get married, then you have a child, and at 30-something you have elderly parents above and children below, so you don't dare start a business. After drifting along for a few more years you're 40, your child is already growing up, and you're about to be laid off. So life is finite, time flies like a shuttle. You need to seize the opportunity to get rich and become wealthy quickly. That's why each time you should go all-in aggressively, add to your positions on both unrealized gains and losses, don't waste time or opportunities, otherwise you might as well give up.
