Gate News reports that on March 29, OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger announced on the X platform that the next version of OpenClaw will adopt MCP (Model Context Protocol), allowing users to use it as an alternative to Anthropic’s Message Channel Model Context Protocol, thereby connecting to a wider range of message providers. Peter Steinberger admitted that this adjustment is “somewhat awkward,” but it will significantly expand OpenClaw’s messaging access capabilities and ecosystem compatibility. In response to community concerns that OpenClaw is “biased” towards OpenAI, Peter Steinberger stated that OpenClaw supports various software, from Microsoft’s Teams and Matrix to WhatsApp.
