Gate News message, April 28 — Taiwan memory chipmaker Nanya Technology will supply LPDDR5X low-power DRAM for Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin AI platform, using the SOCAMM2 memory module format.
Nvidia is adding Nanya as a backup supplier alongside Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to reduce supply risk and improve pricing leverage. The move follows TSMC’s assistance in enhancing Nvidia’s LPDDR packaging and quality.
Each Vera Rubin Superchip pairs a CPU with a GPU and carries 1.5 terabytes of memory—three times the capacity of the prior system. SOCAMM2 delivers more than twice the bandwidth and over 75% better energy efficiency compared to traditional registered dual in-line memory modules (RDIMMs), meeting AI workload demands.

An AI-driven flood of low-quality submissions has doubled the burden of peer review, and the pressure on the initial screening remains particularly acute. Mollick points out that the problem lies in an incentive structure that favors “more” rather than “better.” He argues that mechanisms such as a quality-oriented approach and verifiable research processes are needed to increase credibility, and he warns that other fields requiring human review are facing similar challenges.
