Israeli Cybersecurity Firm Pentera Cuts 40 Jobs, Doubles Down on AI Strategy

Gate News message, April 28 — Israeli cybersecurity firm Pentera is cutting approximately 40 jobs, representing less than 10% of its 470-person workforce. The layoffs are concentrated in marketing and headquarters roles as part of a broader reorganization to shift resources toward product development and AI capabilities.

Pentera raised US$60 million in a Series D funding round in March 2025, bringing total funding to approximately US$250 million. The company claims to be the first adversarial exposure validation (AEV) software provider to reach US$100 million in annual recurring revenue. Since launching native AI features in 2025, Pentera has introduced AI-powered reporting and web attack testing with adaptive payload generation—technology that creates and adjusts simulated attack code to identify security vulnerabilities. The company stated it is actively hiring for product engineering and AI roles.

Pentera operates in a competitive market for automated penetration testing tools, which simulate cyberattacks to identify security gaps. Competitors in the space include Cymulate, AttackIQ, SafeBreach, and XM Cyber, among others.
