Bitmain will open its first factory in the USA.
The mining equipment manufacturer Bitmain plans to open a headquarters and assembly line in Texas or Florida. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing the company's director of global development, Irene Gao.
Bitmain announced plans for expansion in the USA as early as December 2024. Gao noted that the decision was primarily driven by changes in the policy regarding crypto assets by the American authorities.
The administration's course under the new president Donald Trump for U.S. dominance in this area represents a "unique opportunity," Gao stated. At the same time, this will allow for faster product shipments and simplify equipment servicing for American clients.
As its base in the USA, the company is considering two states — Texas and Florida. At the initial stage, Bitmain plans to hire up to 250 people.
The first products from the new factory are expected to be released as early as the beginning of 2026. Full production capacity is planned to be reached by the end of the year.
The company's expansion into the United States will also allow it to bypass restrictions caused by the "trade war" of the new administration, Bloomberg noted.
In June 2024, Trump stated that all remaining bitcoins must be mined in the USA. His sons participated in the establishment of a new venture, American Bitcoin Corp., in partnership with the miner Hut 8.
