Roman Storm asked the Open Source software community: Are you worried about being sued for developing a Decentralized Finance platform?
Golden Finance reports that Roman Storm, a developer of the Tornado Cash privacy protection protocol, has asked the open source software community whether they are concerned about being retroactively prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice for developing Decentralized Finance (DeFi) platforms. Storm asks DeFi developers: how can you be sure that you won't be prosecuted by the Department of Justice for “MSB” (building non-custodial protocols), and then be accused of needing to build custodial protocols? If the SDNY can charge developers for building non-custodial protocols… then what safety is there?
