Gate News message, April 22 — The U.S. Department of Defense released details of the Trump administration’s 2027 fiscal year defense budget on April 21, totaling approximately $1.5 trillion, a 42% increase from the previous year, according to Acting DOD Inspector General Jules Hurst.
Approximately 52% of the budget will be allocated to purchasing ammunition, aircraft, tanks, and naval vessels. The budget will also invest in the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, unmanned drones, and space superiority initiatives to ensure U.S. domestic security and military advantages.
Investment in unmanned drone technology and related systems will be tripled to over $74 billion. Additionally, the budget allocates more than $30 billion for procurement of critical military hardware, including missile interceptors.
