Zentry founder reveals new Play Economy model: The integration path of Blockchain games and Web 2.5.
Zentry Founder Jarindr Talks Blockchain Gaming and Play Economy
The founder of Zentry, Jarindr, recently gave an interview where he shared his views on blockchain games and the new project Zentry. Jarindr has an engineering background and has worked in the crypto space for about 10 years, primarily focusing on technical aspects such as Layer 2 and Plasma protocols. Over two years ago, he began to delve into the web3 gaming field that he truly loves.
Talking about why he chose to create a game project in the web3 field, Jarindr indicated that his perspective has been evolving. Initially, the discussion was about leveraging Blockchain technology to enable the free transfer of game assets, but in reality, there are many issues associated with this. He believes that the biggest change brought by Blockchain is the enhancement of transparency, which will greatly improve the user gaming experience.
Regarding how to attract web2 users, Jarindr believes that transparency and verifiability are a good entry point, rather than promoting some hollow theories. He stated that Zentry's product design goal is to reach the level of web2.5, attracting both traditional game users and retaining web3 users. However, this design brings some challenges, as it is difficult to cater to everyone.
Zentry has a diverse range of products aimed at different user groups. For example, Radiant is primarily targeted at web2 users, creating a seamless experience, while Nexus focuses on web3 users. Jarindr believes that over the past two years, many game studios have tried to move towards web2.5 but ultimately failed.
Speaking of Zentry's vision, Jarindr stated that they aim to create a "Game of Games", which means establishing a Play Economy layer above numerous games. In the Zentry ecosystem, the concept of games is not limited to traditional games; everyday activities like working out or buying coffee can also become games. However, unlike Play2Earn, Zentry will not prioritize rewards as the main goal, but will instead focus on the immersive experience of the IP itself.
Zentry aims to address two major challenges in the gaming industry: distribution and profitability. They no longer rely solely on rewards to motivate users to play games, but instead hope to allow users to do as much of what they love as possible. By providing additional incentive mechanisms, Zentry may help game publishers improve user retention or increase the purchasing volume of game products.
Jarindr emphasized that Zentry is not simply allowing game companies to settle in, but rather building an additional layer on top of existing games to provide a better experience. For example, when users play a certain game, Zentry may offer extra rewards or resources that can be used in other games or to create new items.
Regarding the technical implementation, Zentry is currently deployed on the Ethereum Blockchain, but Jarindr stated that they are considering adopting a multi-chain strategy to meet the needs of Metagame. They plan to launch new products and experiences every quarter and release related trailers.
Zentry's main products include:
Jarindr emphasizes that the most interesting aspect of Zentry is the interconnectivity between its various parts. For example, fragments obtained by users on Nexus can be used in Radiant. In the Play Economy world of Zentry, everyone has their own roles, jobs, and hobbies, just like in the real world.
Finally, when discussing the role of the ZENT token, Jarindr stated that they plan to return a portion of the profits to token holders in various ways. The greater the contribution of users or investors to Zentry, the higher the created value, and the corresponding returns will also increase. ZENT will also serve as the universal token for all Zentry products, with more empowering features to be launched in the future.
