Today let's talk about NIGHT, a rising star in the privacy track that had explosive popularity right after launch.
NIGHT is the core token of Cardano ecosystem project Midnight Network, featuring "rational privacy" — using zero-knowledge proof technology to protect data while retaining audit keys for compliance institutions. This positioning is quite clever, solving privacy needs without attracting regulatory scrutiny like Monero does.
The most distinctive feature is the NIGHT+DUST dual-token model: holding NIGHT automatically generates DUST, which is used to pay gas fees. This means you don't need to consume NIGHT to trade, so selling pressure naturally decreases, encouraging long-term holding.
Charles Hoskinson personally came out to endorse it, calling it a major milestone for the Cardano ecosystem. Google Cloud and MoneyGram will also run nodes — quite an impressive lineup.
