CALL FOR APPLICATIONS | Itana Digital Economic Zone Invites Applications from Founders, Businesses, and Professionals
Itana, Africa’s first digital special economic zone, has officially opened applications for its Digital Residency Launchpad. This curated, community-driven residency program run by Nigeria’s first licensed digital economic zone firm, is tailored for founders, business leaders, and diaspora professionals aiming to build, invest in, or scale ventures across the continent.
Participants in the Launchpad receive access to:
all designed to empower entrepreneurs and investors to tap into Africa’s dynamic and fast-growing markets.
Itana, founded by 3 Nigerian entrepreneurs, aims to establish an online jurisdiction, essentially a virtual city, akin to Delaware in the United States, E-Estonia in Europe, or Dubai in Asia. This virtual city would enable international companies to incorporate and conduct business within a Nigerian Free Zone without the necessity of a physical presence in the area.
As reported by BitKE in 2023, the initiative raised $2.3 million to create a comprehensive online platform for accessing business and government services while leveraging globally competitive business policies and incentives, particularly as digital free-zone enterprises.
Operating within Itana’s digital special economic zone, residents stand to benefit from simplified business setup processes, favorable incentives, and a policy-friendly environment that promotes innovation.
According to Mayowa Olugbile, CEO of Itana:
“The Digital Residency Launchpad is designed for builders and investors who want more than just a one-off networking event – it’s a community-powered experience offering the practical resources entrepreneurs need to thrive.
Itana is seeking to become the jurisdiction of choice for African and global companies seeking to seize the growth opportunities available in this dynamic and fast-growing region.
We are determined to make scaling in Africa as seamless as possible – and our new Digital Residency Launchpad initiative is another key step in this direction.”
The initiative is envisioned as a trusted gateway into Africa’s innovation ecosystem and a hub for long-term strategic support.
