one good thing about slop finding its way into the masses is that it means better counterparties long-term.
while absolute gold mines of article/podcasts get a few views/likes due to its technical "heaviness" at times.
this is both sad, yet at the same time, good for business.

spent the last 3-4 days integrating an alternative dataset to my research infra.
making it scalable is priority because I want to add alternative data sets in the future, and not spend 3-4 days doing it.
always think in scalability.
next time, will be a few lines of code.

the output in which I can test new trade ideas is really important to me.
if I have to dig the entire codebase each time I want to test a new feature, market, alternative dataset, that loss of time compounds and good ideas get left behind.
this has been my focus to fix and I'm really close to a level of efficiency that I am happy about.
it has to be as close to a click of a button as possible.
obviously the feature engineering requires some adaptation and also if different market types are introduced.
but all else should not have to be re-adjusted on each iteration for the most part.

how much time is spent by people here arguing politics.
bruv it aint anything changing because you as an anon is talking to the other anon about the rage bait of the other anon.
if you're already close to retired rage bait away.
but damn, leave the internets for a second.

began trading this feature a few weeks ago on a separate portfolio to test it.
past 3 days I've been adding it to the proper research infra to have some historical data to back it up.
the first few tests were wrong, but the funny thing is that I'd probably have dismissed the signal if I didn't know intuitively they were wrong, from having traded it.
that tells me 2 things:
> testing in prod without a backtest is advantageous to get a feel and validation for whatever you're seeing is real
> be a bit more cautious in discarding ideas quick, and validate them a bit further

just woke up, 3:30 am, from a dream that I had found an alpha on polymarket, and was so satisfied as I was pulling cash out of it.

hl vs lighter vs extended is such a mid curve take.
who's the real enemy that have been extractive to users all this time? don't even need to say it do I?
all of these can grow together and are a plus to the industry.
I only trade on dexe's now and it's all due to a wide selection of viable liquid options available.

really need to check my emails more frequently instead of once a month lol.
catching taxes due in a few days out of luck not a good thing.
when I have an interesting project on my hands I really can't find the interest to do anything else.

my main goal for 2026 is to continue to branch out into new edges, and question my accepted ideology that I can only compete in the risk premia arena and spend months on end on drawdowns.
that might be true, but I gotta see it for myself.
I also think I've always framed the question in the wrong way and its more of a spectrum rather than a binary answer.
how much more sharpe can I generate, on top of what I currently already do?
I've seem a glimpse of it this year already and I am spending all of my time designing my entire infrastructure to make it feasible.
even if I dont make it work, I now

tip:
when saving ideas for research from the internets, spend the extra few mins copying the text, taking a screenshot, downloading the document, and store it in a database that you own.
don't just store the link.
often I go back to bookmarked tweets or links I saved, and I find them broken because the author deleted them, or doesn't exist anymore or simply disappears from bookmarks.
better to make it permanent than to lose valuable stuff.

so I've been re-structuring my entire portfolio management infra to be scalable and more modular to sustain different model types, order types (execution engine), exchanges, etc
the problem, was that this added complexity generated a lot of new errors that usually happened overnight when it ran.
what I'm doing to mitigate that is creating a comprehensive log report db that tells me exactly what has been done at each run.
at least all the sensible stuff that matters.
and try to bring the success rate over the next months as close to 100% as possible so I don't have to wake up every night to new

I get this vibe of weakness when someone who is deemed "controversial" is interviewed, and the interviewer uses a shopping list long disclaimer hedging themselves against criticism.
just do it and stop being such a wuss.
it feels so disingenuous, you're clearly interested in the person, you probably admire them, why do you care what the opinion of others are?
what kind of weird way you live that you have to constantly say stuff like "oh you may or may not agree, please please just don't come at us".
