GateNews

Gate News message, April 23 — Turkey’s parliament passed legislation on April 22 banning social media use for individuals under 15 years old. The bill is expected to be signed by President Erdoğan and will take effect six months after publication in the official gazette.

Under the law, users under 15 will be unable to register social media accounts, and digital platforms must implement age verification systems and strengthen content moderation. Parents will gain rights to manage account settings, monitor in-app purchases, and restrict screen time for their children.

The legislation was introduced by Turkey’s ruling party and is anticipated to receive presidential approval.
