PANews, December 4—Following its previous purchase of 20 million GNK tokens for $12 million, Bitfury has announced an official increase in its overall strategic investment in Gonka to $50 million, making it one of the key pillars of this decentralized AI computing power network. The committed $50 million will be used to accelerate the development of the Gonka protocol and ecosystem, promoting the expansion and global adoption of its efficient GPU network infrastructure.
The Gonka team pointed out that the network uses a Proof-of-Work (PoW) model tailored for real-world AI inference/training tasks, allowing contributors ranging from single GPU owners to large data centers to directly participate in power sharing, without the need for traditional cloud service providers or centralized computing power suppliers.
Since its official launch in August 2025, Gonka’s distributed GPU network has expanded rapidly, and its current network computing power is equivalent to the scale of 6,000 H100 GPUs, demonstrating its actual hardware capacity and the potential to rival traditional cloud computing platforms. Bitfury stated that its investment in Gonka is not only a capital injection but also a strategic endorsement of the “open, decentralized, and productivity-focused” AI infrastructure concept.
