Solana Labs' spin-off company Anza proposed the Alpenglow plan, referred to as the "largest transformation of the Solana core protocol."

BlockBeats news, on May 20, according to The Block, the development studio Anza, spun off from Solana Labs, announced what they call “the biggest transformation in the history of the Solana core protocol.” According to the announcement, this high-throughput Layer 1 Blockchain will introduce a newly designed underlying architecture called Alpenglow. Anza’s Quentin Kniep, Kobi Sliwinski, and Roger Wattenhofer wrote in the White Paper released on Monday: “We believe the release of Alpenglow will be a turning point for Solana. Alpenglow is not only a new consensus protocol but also the biggest transformation since the inception of the Solana core protocol.” This upgrade will replace the existing TowerBFT attestation consensus mechanism and Proof of History Timestamp system with new components named Votor and Rotor.
