DeSantis: “Bitcoin is a Danger to the Current Regime”
DeSantis, one of the Republican Party's recent leading candidates, stated that he is a crypto advocate.

Stating that he sees crypto as a matter of social freedom, Ron DeSantis banned the use of central bank digital currencies within the state borders in a decision he signed as the governor of Florida. (Some lawyers debate whether this is legal.)
“I have no intention of controlling everything that people do in this area. Bitcoin is a threat to the current government and they are aiming to kill it with over-regulation.”
DeSantis said during the interview that CBDCs must be approved by the US Congress and that he would not allow it if he was elected president. He stated that the basis of this view is the risks of misuse and abuse of CBDCs.
It seems that CBDCs will become one of the new hot topics in the US policy scene.
Samuel Armes, president of the Florida Blockchain Business Association, stated in an interview with CoinDesk that DeSantis received more requests for CBDC than any other issue.
According to a poll by Quinnipac University, Republican voters give Donald Trump 56 percent of support, while seeing DeSantis as the second popular candidate with 25 percent.
DeSantis is not the first Republican presidential candidate to raise the issue of Bitcoin. Vivek Ramaswamy, who used to have investments in the pharmaceutical industry and said that he was a longtime presidential candidate, said that the next election in Bitcoin 2023, held in Miami, would be "a referendum on fiat currencies" and emphasized that he was against CBDCs.
