A few years ago, Seven Days Inn had a nickname. Called "Cannon Room"
Back then, booking a room was a necessity for young people, with Seven Days, Home Inn, HanTing, cheap and convenient, everywhere.
In 2013, there was a big news story: 20 million booking records leaked, including Home Inn and Seven Days.
And now?
Hotels are closing down, I checked some data, honestly quite surprised.
In 2026, the nationwide hotel vacancy rate is 11.2%, and revenue per room has decreased by 9.7% year-over-year.
Among post-95s with spouses, the proportion who had no sex in the past year
is 14.6% for men, 10.1% for women.
For those born between the 70s and 1994, this proportion is only 6%-9%.
In other words, the frequency of sexual activity among the younger generation is even lower than that of their parents.
Some say, the economy is bad, and people don’t have money to book rooms. But the data doesn’t quite support this view.
A detail from the survey: among men with a graduate degree, only 29.2% have sex at least once a week.
For men with a junior high school education or below, this figure is 43.8%.
The higher the education level, the higher the income, yet the less sex they have.
