Gate Launches TradFi API and Multi-Leverage: An Honest Review of the Platform Update
In early March 2026, the cryptocurrency exchange Gate announced a major update to its TradFi(Traditional Finance) section, launching a trading API and implementing a customizable multi-leverage mechanism. This step marks another stage in erasing the boundaries between digital assets and traditional markets. Let’s understand what exactly happened, what problems the new features address, and whether the professional community should pay attention.
According to platform data, on the eve of the Gate TradFi announcement, the platform showed strong results, reaching new highs. The daily trading volume exceeded $15 billion, indicating growing demand for cross-market asset allocation.
Alongside the volume growth, Gate continued to develop its product mechanics. Recall that the platform was the first in the industry to introduce a regulated margin structure for gold, launching products XAUUSD20 (20x), XAUUSD100 (100x), and XAUUSD200 (200x). Now, the lineup is expanding into precious metals: multi-leverage products for silver have been added — XAGUSD10 (10x), XAGUSD20 (20x), and XAGUSD50 (50x).
Key innovations:
1. TradFi API: Welcome, algorithms
The main news was the launch of the TradFi API. Now, trading metals, indices, commodities, and currencies (FX) is accessible not only to "manual" traders but also to algorithms.
What does this mean in practice?
· Strategy automation: Quantitative funds and advanced private traders can launch systematic strategies. Programmatic order submission and position management are supported.
· Data access: The API provides access to real-time data and order book depth (order book depth), which is critical for high-frequency trading and pre-trade analysis.
· Synergy with Unified Account: The API allows managing TradFi positions using liquidity from the crypto part of the account. For example, profits from ETH can be instantly redirected to open positions in oil or the S&P 500 index.
2. Multi-Leverage: Flexibility instead of a monolith
Previously, working with leverage was less flexible. Now, Gate has implemented a "multi-level leverage" system. Instead of a single maximum, users can choose from preset levels.
Update logic:
· For conservative strategies: Low leverage (10x, 20x) is available. This reduces the risk of over-borrowing and allows more precise risk calibration per trade, especially when working with volatile assets.
· For aggressive trading: The legendary 500x option for currencies and indices remains, but now it’s not the only choice.
· Asset lineup expansion: Adding silver with fixed leverage levels (10x-50x) indicates that the team sees demand for diversification within the commodity category.
Important things to remember
Despite the technological appeal, calling this product a direct analog of a traditional broker would be incorrect.
· It’s CFDs, not physical assets. Gate TradFi offers trading on Contracts for Difference (CFD). You do not own physical gold or stocks; you only speculate on their price changes. This entails certain risks.
· Leverage risks: The appearance of "soft" levels like 10x and 20x is a great safeguard against inexperience, but having 500x still requires iron discipline. Even a small adverse move at maximum leverage can lead to a margin call.
· Trading mode: Unlike the 24/7 crypto market, TradFi assets on Gate have fixed trading sessions and are subject to "gaps" on weekends. Algorithms designed for crypto will need to adapt to trading halts.
· As of launch, the API is still young. How stable it will be under high loads during market volatility in gold or oil remains an open question.
Evolution or revolution?
The launch of the TradFi API and the introduction of multi-leverage for silver are a natural evolution of the platform.
Gate aims to occupy the niche of a "universal terminal" for those already in the crypto ecosystem but wanting to diversify into traditional assets without transferring funds to external accounts. The new tools (especially the API) make the platform attractive to algo traders and small funds seeking low fees and easy onboarding.
If you are an experienced trader who worked with precious metals and oil before Gate TradFi, it might seem like just a toy. But if you are a crypto enthusiast looking for trading sensations in oil or gold with convenient leverage, or a quant searching for a new low-cost sandbox — this update deserves your attention.
