Your account security is paramount when managing digital assets. Beyond your standard login credentials, Gate.io provides an additional protective measure called a Fund Password. This security layer works independently from your account login password and serves as an extra verification requirement, particularly for withdrawal transactions. Understanding how to configure and manage this feature is essential for safeguarding your funds.

What Makes Fund Password Different from Your Login Password

The Fund Password operates as a separate security mechanism distinct from your regular account login credentials. While your login password controls account access, the Fund Password specifically protects sensitive transactions—particularly withdrawals. This dual-layer approach ensures that even if someone gains access to your account login details, they cannot transfer your assets without the Fund Password. Think of it as a second checkpoint that prevents unauthorized fund transfers.

How to Create Your Fund Password

Setting up your Fund Password is straightforward and requires just a few minutes. Begin by navigating to the Account & Security section through the profile icon in your account’s upper right corner. From there, proceed to Advanced Protection, then select Fund Password, and finally choose Settings.

When entering your Fund Password, keep these requirements in mind: the password must contain 8 to 30 characters and include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. Importantly, this password cannot match your login password. Once you’ve entered your Fund Password meeting these specifications, click Confirm. The system will then prompt you to complete a Security Verification. After successfully verifying your identity, your Fund Password setup is complete—you’re now protected with this additional security layer.

Managing Your Fund Password: Changing or Deactivating

Should you need to modify or remove your Fund Password, locate the Change or Disable option positioned next to the Fund Password setting. Keep in mind that after you reset your password, your account will be restricted from processing withdrawals for the next 24 hours. This cooling-off period is a standard security measure to prevent unauthorized fund transfers following a password change.

Troubleshooting: Resetting a Forgotten Fund Password

If you cannot recall your Fund Password, don’t worry—the system provides two straightforward recovery methods. If you’re in the Disable Fund Password window, select “Having problems with verification?” Alternatively, if you’re in the Change Fund Password window, choose “Forgot Fund Password.” Both options will direct you to the Reset Security Settings page where you can initiate your Fund Password reset. Select the Fund Password reset option and confirm your choice.

After confirming, complete the required Security Verification process. Please note that your account may require additional verification steps for security purposes. Instructions will be sent to your registered email address, and the review process typically requires 1 to 2 working days before your password reset is finalized.
