Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) continues to grab market share from Intel (INTC) in personal computer and server processors, a Wall Street analyst says. AMD stock rose Friday.
AMD gained share in central processing units in the fourth quarter from Intel across desktop and notebook PCs as well as servers, Evercore ISI analyst Mark Lipacis said in a client note late Thursday.

Intel’s share of the market for server CPUs dipped to 60% in the fourth quarter, down 740 basis points year over year. AMD’s server CPU share rose to 24% in Q4, up 99 basis points from a year earlier. Arm Holdings (ARM) accounted for the remaining 16% server processor share.
AMD gained server CPU market share despite having higher average selling prices for its chips than Intel, Lipacis said.
In PCs, Intel’s share of CPUs was 62% in the fourth quarter, down 561 basis points year over year. AMD’s PC CPU market share was 25% in Q4, up 346 basis points. Arm took the remaining 13% share.
Lipacis reiterated his outperform rating on AMD stock and raised his price target to 328 from 283. He rates Intel stock as in line, or neutral, with a price target of 45.
On the stock market today, AMD stock advanced 0.7% to close at 207.32. Intel stock climbed 0.7% to 46.79.
