The US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the American currency against six major currencies, fell 0.21% on February 4th, closing the trading session at 97.434. The movement reflects the characteristic fluctuations of the foreign exchange market, especially involving the euro and the British pound, which experienced significant variations during this period.

According to data released by ChainCatcher, the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar reached 1.1811, while the British pound continued its upward trajectory against the US dollar, marking 1.3684 dollars. These two European currencies remain the main benchmarks for movement in global currency markets.

Movement of major currencies against the dollar

In addition to the euro and pound fluctuations, the foreign exchange market showed other relevant movements. The Japanese yen maintained its rate at 155.77 per dollar, while the Swiss franc closed at 0.7756 dollars. In the Americas, the Canadian dollar registered parity at 1.3644, and the Swedish krona followed with a rate of 8.9154 per dollar.

The decline of the Dollar Index indicates a relative retreat of the greenback in the global context, with direct impacts on currency relations between the euro, pound, and other major currencies. The consolidated data from ChainCatcher reflects the dynamism of the international foreign exchange market in February.
