Tesla executive Elon Musk publicly confirmed the birth of his twelfth child, whose mother is Shivon Zilis, a senior executive at Neuralink, the brain-implant company founded by the magnate. Although the news was initially revealed by the media, Musk clarified that they never intended to keep it secret, but simply did not make a formal announcement. “Everyone close to us knows,” said the CEO, noting that lack of public disclosure does not mean concealment. The baby’s name and gender remain private.

Shivon Zilis: The executive behind Neuralink

Shivon Zilis serves as an executive at Neuralink, Musk’s brain-implant division. Her professional background demonstrates a deep dedication to artificial intelligence. Previously, she was a board member of OpenAI, the nonprofit research organization specializing in responsible AI, until 2023. This connection within the AI ecosystem likely facilitated the meeting between Zilis and Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015. Their association combines shared interests in advanced technology and AI development.

An expanding family: The ties between Musk and Zilis

This is the third child that Shivon Zilis and Elon Musk share together. In November 2021, they welcomed twins: Strider and Azure. Shortly after, in December of that year, Techno was born. The couple has kept these family relationships out of the public eye, prioritizing their children’s privacy. Court documents revealed these events years later, when the press reported on the twins in July 2022. In June 2024, reports emerged about the birth of a third child, significantly expanding Musk’s already large family.

Musk’s broader family context

It is important to note that Musk also shares three children with artist Grimes. Among them is Exa Dark Siderael, born via surrogacy. Grimes has recently requested privacy for her family through social media amid media attention on Musk’s shared parenting dynamics.
