On February 9th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a routine press conference. A reporter from Kyodo News asked whether China hopes that Sanae Takaichi will pursue what kind of foreign policy, given that the Liberal Democratic Party achieved an overwhelming victory in yesterday’s Japanese House of Representatives election, allowing Sanae Takaichi to continue in power. Lin Jian stated that elections are Japan’s internal affairs, but some of the deep structural issues, as well as the ideological trends, movements, and directions reflected in this election, are worth deep consideration by Japan’s knowledgeable circles and the international community.
