My art enlightenment teacher was also my middle school Chinese internship teacher. She is a girl with long flowing hair, just out of college. She quotes Shakespeare and Hugo, and talks about Murakami Haruki and Mishima Yukio. In her left hand, Oliver Twist; in her right hand, Wuthering Heights. I asked her: Teacher, teacher, how can I have your elegance? She said: Read Shakespeare, you must read the original, authentic translations. I listened, and spent a month's allowance to buy the complete works of Shakespeare. After three days, I had my dreams shattered. I can't follow the artistic route; I'm just a village girl, and I really can't handle this fine flour 🙃
