Lighter or upgraded zero-knowledge circuits, does Perp DEX usher in new possibilities?

Abstract generation in progress

【BitPush】Lighter’s founder recently revealed an interesting signal on social media: the team is working on introducing Turing-complete zero-knowledge circuits. It sounds a bit hardcore, but simply put, it means enabling ZK systems to support more complex custom logic.

What does this mean for Perp DEX? The community’s reaction is quite期待. From a privacy protection perspective, user operations can be more隐蔽; from a performance standpoint, efficiency could be further提升; from a functional dimension, design自由度 is greatly increased. In other words, if this technical route is successfully implemented, it could突破 the current framework of Perp DEX gameplay and reach a completely different level.

Of course, this is still just the founder’s technical concept, and whether it can be smoothly implemented remains to be seen. But judging from the market’s confidence in the Lighter team, this direction has clearly raised industry expectations for the project’s subsequent iterations.

Turing-complete ZK circuits sound impressive, but whether they can truly be implemented depends on... There have been many similar promises before.

It sounds like the Turing completeness thing is back again. Every time, they say it can break through the framework, but what’s the result? As always, let’s wait until it’s actually done. --- I’ve heard the Perp DEX story too many times. Privacy and performance are important, but surviving comes first. --- Wow, Lighter is going to do something so hardcore? If they really pull it off, it could truly change the game, but I’m more interested in when they’ll start making money. --- It’s still in the founder’s conceptual stage. Don’t just talk empty talk—when will we see actual product iterations? --- Regarding ZK circuit upgrades, it feels like they’re just patching the holes from previous designs, not real innovation. --- I don’t really trust market confidence. I’ve seen enough hype cycles about concepts; wait until the code is on-chain before bragging. --- Honestly, it’s just about wanting to do complex custom logic. Does this really help with efficiency? Or does it just add more complexity?

Turing-complete ZK circuits? Sounds awesome, but can it be implemented in practice? That's the key question.
