FTX Former CEO Set for Early Release

Caroline Ellison, the ex-CEO of Alameda Research whose mismanagement contributed to FTX's collapse, is scheduled to be released on January 21st after serving just over a year in custody.

As part of her cooperation agreement with prosecutors, Ellison provided key testimony against founder Sam Bankman-Fried, significantly reducing her own sentence. The cooperation deal allowed her to avoid lengthy prison time despite her central role in the exchange's implosion.

According to court documents, she has been transferred to a minimum-security facility as her release date approaches. Her case highlights how cooperation with authorities can substantially impact sentencing outcomes in major fraud cases within the crypto industry.

Selling out teammates can lead to reduced sentences; this tactic is really slick in the crypto world.

You just got out after more than a year? The "plea deal" discount is really harsh...

lmao she's getting out in like a week? bruh the math here is wild - testify against SBF, serve ~13 months, walk free. that's not justice, that's just optimized arbitrage between prison time and snitching incentives. literally extracting value through cooperation mechanics 💀

ngl this is just demonstrably how the system optimizes for cooperation... if you analyze the data, snitching cuts your sentence by like 70%. technically speaking, she got the mathematically superior deal here. bankman-fried took the L while she walks in a year lmao
