Whether you like me or not is your business; whether I am good or not is my business—that's two separate matters. I’ve noticed that many times, we always confuse one thing with another; they are actually unrelated. It seems like we always connect two unrelated things causally. For example, a common causal connection is believing that someone doesn't like me because I am not good enough. But if you really calm down and think logically, whether someone likes me or not and whether I am good enough are actually two different things. Right? Because maybe they currently don’t have the energy to date, or maybe I’m not their type. These reasons don’t necessarily mean I am not good enough. But our brains tend to easily make these causal connections—that if you don’t like me, it must be because I am not excellent enough, I am not good enough. So I need to improve myself and become better so that you’ll like me. Thinking this way is a disaster. It makes you constantly want to change yourself and confirm your position in others’ hearts.
