Don't remind me again today

Wait, Philip Morris (tobacco giant) has an ESG score of 84 while Tesla gets only 37? 🤔 Elon just called out the entire ESG rating system on Twitter, and honestly, he's got a point.

Tesla's getting dunked on by Big Oil (Shell, Exxon) too—all scoring higher despite literally pumping carbon into the atmosphere. Meanwhile, Tesla's pushing EV adoption hard and actually reducing emissions.

The problem? ESG ratings are a mixed bag. Tobacco kills millions yearly, fossil fuel companies have climate records worse than villains in a Bond movie, yet they rank higher than the guy trying to revolutionize clean energy. Some say it's greenwashing—companies gaming the system. Others say ESG funds (BlackRock & co.) are just following flawed metrics.

ESG defenders argue Tesla lacks on social/governance factors, hence the low score. Fair point. But when a tobacco company looks cleaner on paper than an EV manufacturer, something's broken in the matrix.

Is ESG investing actually misguided, or is Tesla just bad at playing the rating game? The debate's far from over.
