The latest data is out: A family of four in the United States needs to earn at least $171,000 to enter the upper class. However, there are huge disparities between states.
The most rolled-up states: - Massachusetts: A family of four needs $332,000 - Maryland: $308,000 - Connecticut: $306,000
Interestingly, the doubling of the state median income is the starting line for the upper class. The northeastern cities have a high degree of urbanization and originally high salaries, so the threshold for entering the upper class is naturally higher.
