Why Bitcoin Might Be The Fix For America's Currency Problem

Here’s a problem the U.S. has wrestled with for 60+ years: being the world’s reserve currency is great for Wall Street, but brutal for Main Street.

The Trap Nobody Talks About

Back in the 1960s, economist Robert Triffin spotted something wild. He realized any country that becomes the global reserve currency gets locked into a paradox:

To keep the world happy (and holding your currency), you have to flood the globe with your money. This floods your domestic market too. Result? Trade deficits explode, manufacturing jobs vanish, and wealth gaps widen.

Look at the U.S. trade balance since 1960—it’s been steadily in the red for decades. The dollar had to go everywhere because the world needed dollars. But that same mechanism hollowed out American factories and shifted production to countries with weaker currencies and cheaper labor.

The Irony

The reserve currency status has been a double-edged sword:

The upside: U.S. gets to export paper (literal dollars) instead of goods. Foreign money floods into U.S. treasuries, stocks, and real estate. This fueled the 40-year bull market.

The downside: American workers watch jobs disappear. The current account deficit never corrects itself because the dollar stays artificially strong. The working class pays the price while asset holders prosper.

The Fix?

Enter Bitcoin. A currency nobody controls, nobody can flood the market with, and nobody can weaponize for trade advantage. It’s the monetary reset button the current system can’t provide from within itself.

The Fed and Washington are stuck between two bad options: keep the reserve currency game (accept growing inequality) or let it go (lose geopolitical dominance). Bitcoin sidesteps the whole dilemma.
