Tldr from Thanksgiving:

It’s wild when you really think about it. No other country talks about race the way the United States does. Not even close. It’s not even about “racism” itself, but about how deeply race is built into the system here.

America literally asks for your race on everything: college applications, job forms, the census, medical paperwork etc. Most countries don’t even collect that info. They don’t treat race as a formal category in everyday life.

So it’s not that the U.S. is uniquely racist. It’s that the conversation around race is institutionalized and everywhere, which makes it feel constant compared to other places.

Kinda crazy to step back and realize how normalized that is.
